Current numbers for the Acadiana region are 223 hospitalizations and 37 ventilators for covid-19 patients, down from a peak of 304 hospitalizations and 58 ventilators, which represent 27% and 36% declines. In the graph, the green line represents hospitalizations for covid-19 patients and the yellow line represents ventilator use for covid-19 patients in Acadiana.

Governor’s Edwards mask mandate went into effect July 13, and the decline seems to have begun between July 22 and July 27. Given the typical lag between infection and hospitalization, this is broadly consistent with the mask mandate being responsible for the decline.
